Connect Slack

Post every new comment, reply and status change to a Slack channel. Works on every plan, with a one-click connection or an incoming webhook.

Slack posts each project’s new comments, replies and status changes to a channel, with links back to the comment. It works on every plan, including AppSumo Tier 1. It is one-way: nothing you do in Slack changes Drobber.

Connect Slack for every project#

The workspace owner does this once.

  1. Open the menu under your name and choose Integrations.
  2. On the Slack card, press Connect Slack. Slack asks which channel Drobber should post to: choose it and allow.
  3. Back in Drobber, you see "Slack is connected. Drobber has said hello in the channel you chose." The channel gets a message saying comments on your Drobber projects will appear there.

Prefer a webhook? Open Use a token instead (or Connect Slack, where one-click isn’t offered). In Slack, create an app with an incoming webhook, choose the channel, and paste its URL into Webhook URL. It must start with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.

Turn it on for projects#

  1. On the Integrations page, open Projects under Slack.
  2. Press Turn on next to each project, or Turn on for every project.

Turn on for every project covers the projects you have now. Turn new projects on as you add them, here or in the project’s Settings tab under Connected tools (Send this project’s comments to Slack). Any team member can do this.

A different channel for one project#

The workspace connection posts to one channel for every project that uses it. To send a project somewhere else, give it its own connection: in the project’s Settings, under Connected tools, open Slack, choose Use a different Slack account for this project and paste another incoming webhook URL. If Slack isn’t connected for the workspace, Connect Slack in the project connects it for that project only, and you choose the channel on the next screen.

What the messages say#

  • New comment: "New comment #12 on Project (page)", the text (up to 400 characters), who left it, and links: Open in Drobber, View on the page and, if it has one, Screenshot.
  • Reply: "Reply on #12 (Project) from Name", with the reply.
  • Status change: "#12 on Project is now Resolved".

Assigning a comment posts nothing, and developer details are never included in Slack. Link previews are turned off, so messages stay short.

Turn it off#

  • One project: press Turn off next to it on the Integrations page, or in its Connected tools (Disconnect, if it has its own connection).
  • Every project: the workspace owner presses Disconnect on the Slack card, then Disconnect Slack. Projects with their own connection carry on.

Messages already posted stay in Slack. For email and in-app notifications instead, see Emails and notifications.
