Invite your clients
Send the review link, then let people in when they ask, invite them by email, or let anyone with the link comment. Add a password if it might be forwarded.
Send your client the project’s review link. By default they sign in or create a free account and you let them in. You can also invite them by email so they are in straight away, or let anyone with the link comment under their name.
Copy the review link#
- In the project’s Settings tab, under Review link.
- With the copy button on the project’s card on the Projects page.
- With the copy button in the project’s header.
A website project only has a review link once its Site URL is filled in. Until then, Settings says "Add the site URL under Details and the link appears here." For PDFs, images and videos, each file has its own link: copy it from the Files tab.
Only owners and team members can copy the link. Your client also needs the script on the site, or the WordPress plugin. See Add the script to your site.
What your client sees#
With Require an account to comment On, which is the default, the link opens on a lock screen that says the project is locked. Nothing of the project shows until they have access.
- They press Create an account and give their name, email and a password of at least 8 characters. If they already have an account they press Log in, or Continue with Drobber if they are signed in to Drobber in that browser.
- A new account confirms its email address first. Drobber emails them a link, and Send it again sends another.
- Drobber then asks you to let them in, and their screen says Request sent. Someone who logs in with an existing account presses Request access.
- When you approve, the page opens by itself and they get an email with a link straight back in.
The × on the lock screen closes it so they can look at the site without the comments. An account on another agency’s team cannot be a client of yours: Drobber asks them to sign in with a different email.
Approve access requests#
Only owners can let people in. Every owner gets an email for each request, the Projects page shows how many people are waiting, and the Team link in the menu shows a count.
- Open the Team page.
- Under Waiting for access, press Approve or Decline.
Approving gives them that project as a client. Declining shows them "Access not approved". Team members cannot approve requests, so if you are not an owner, invite your client by email instead.
Invite clients by email#
Invited clients skip the request: they get an email to create their account and the project is there when they sign in. There are two places to do it.
From the project, as an owner or team member:
- Open the project’s Settings tab and find Client accounts.
- Type their name (optional) and email, and press Invite.
If they already have a Drobber client account, the project is added to it and they get an email saying so. An email that belongs to an agency account cannot be added as a client. The list shows each client as invite sent, online now or last seen, with Remove to take the project away from them.
From the Team page, as an owner:
- Open the Team page and use Invite someone.
- Enter their name and email.
- Under Access, choose Client (chosen projects only).
- Under Projects they can see, tick at least one project.
- Press Send invite. The link in the email lasts a week.
The Team page only invites people who have no Drobber account yet. For someone who has one, invite them from the project’s Client accounts. To change which projects a client sees later, use Change which projects a client can see on the Team page. See Team members and roles.
Let anyone comment without an account#
In the project’s Settings tab, under Review link, press Let anyone comment. Require an account to comment then shows Off, and anyone with the link can read and comment by giving their name, with nothing for you to approve.
Guests can’t pick a colour, get email updates or mention emails, or edit a comment once it is posted. To go back, press Require accounts. See Guest comments.
Add a password#
If the link might be forwarded on, add a password as well.
- Open the project’s Settings tab and find Password under Review link.
- Type a password of at least 4 characters and press Set password.
- Give the password to your client along with the link.
Reviewers see "This review is password protected" and press Unlock once they have typed it. The browser remembers it, so they are asked once. When you change the password (Change) or remove it (Remove password), everyone has to unlock again.
The password is skipped only for people signed in with a Drobber account that has access to this project. Being signed in to Drobber is not enough on its own. With accounts required, the password comes first, then the sign-in.
If the link gets out#
Under Review link in Settings, press Generate a new link (the current one stops working). Browsers that saved the old link drop it on their next visit. Send the new link to everyone who should still have it.
If your plan has ended#
When the workspace has no active plan, your client sees "This review is paused" instead of the comments. Your own team sees that the trial has ended and a Choose a plan button.
