PDF and image feedback

Upload PDFs and images to a project and send one link. Clients pin comments to any spot, on any page of a PDF.

Drobber works on PDFs and images as well as websites. Upload proofs, brochures, mockups or artwork, send your client the link, and they comment straight on the file with the same tools they use on a website: pins, boxes, replies, statuses and @mentions.

Start a PDF or image project#

  1. Go to Projects and press New project.
  2. Under What are you reviewing?, choose PDF or Image.
  3. Give the project a name and drop your files into Add PDFs or Add images. You can add more later.
  4. Press Create project.

A PDF project takes only PDFs, and an Image project only images. Website projects have a Files tab too, which takes both, so you can review a site and its brochure in one place. See Create a project for the other project types.

Add more files#

Open the project and go to the Files tab. Press Upload on the card at the top (Add PDFs for review, Add images for review, or Add images or PDFs for review on a website project) and choose one or more files.

Drobber checks what a file really is, not just its name, so a file that is not really an image or a PDF is turned away whatever it is called. SVG files are not accepted. Images (other than GIFs) are optimised when they arrive, so they take up less room; if optimising would not save anything, the original is kept.

Only your team can upload files. Clients can comment on them but not add their own.

Send it to your client#

Each file card has a copy-link button ("Copy a link to send your client"). The link always opens the newest version of that file, so a link you sent last week shows today’s update. Clients get in the same way as on any other project; see Invite your clients.

The card also shows how many comments are open, when the file was last updated, and buttons to review it, see its comments, upload a new version or delete it.

Commenting on a PDF#

PDFs open in the browser, a page at a time, each labelled with its page number ("Page 3 of 12"). A comment is pinned to a page and a spot on that page, so it stays in place at any window size. Nobody needs a PDF reader.

If a PDF is password protected or damaged, Drobber cannot open it and says so. Remove the password and upload it again.

Where the comments go#

Comments on files sit alongside the rest of the project. On the Comments tab they are grouped under the file’s name ("File: brochure.pdf"), and they appear on the Board, in the Inbox and in your connected tools like any other comment. See Comment statuses.

Delete a file#

Press the bin on the file’s card and confirm with Delete permanently. This removes the file, every version of it, and all their comments. It cannot be undone. Only your team can delete files.

Uploaded PDFs and images count towards your 150 MB of storage unless you connect your own cloud drive. See Storage and cloud drives.
