Video feedback and timestamps

Add a video from YouTube, Vimeo, a link or your cloud drive. Clients pause, press Comment and the note is pinned to that moment.

Clients comment on a video by pausing it and pressing Comment at m:ss. Each comment keeps the moment it was left at, or a stretch of the video, and shows as a marker on the timeline so anyone can jump straight to it.

Add a video#

Create a project and choose Video under What are you reviewing?. Paste a link straight away, or leave it blank to add one from the Videos tab. To add another video later, open the Videos tab and press Add a video. You can bring a video in three ways:

SourceWhat worksUses
Paste a linkYouTube (public or unlisted, with embedding allowed), Vimeo (use the full link for unlisted videos), or a direct https link to an .mp4, .m4v, .mov or .webm fileNothing: it plays from where it is hosted
Upload a fileMP4, MOV or WebM, up to 1 GB. Needs Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive connectedYour monthly video streaming allowance
From a driveA video already in your connected Google Drive or OneDriveYour monthly video streaming allowance

Uploading a video#

Uploaded videos are saved in your own cloud drive, never on Drobber, so they use none of your storage. That means you need Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive connected under Storage before you can upload. Without one, the Upload a file tab asks you to connect a drive or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link instead. See Storage and cloud drives.

An upload shows its progress and can be cancelled. One video uploads at a time per workspace.

To choose a video that is already in your drive, use the Google Drive or OneDrive tab. Only the person who connected the drive can choose from it. Picking from Dropbox is not available; upload the file instead.

The video streaming allowance#

Uploaded and drive videos play through Drobber, so they count towards a monthly video streaming allowance: 100 GB per workspace on every paid plan and the free trial, and less on AppSumo tiers (see AppSumo codes). YouTube, Vimeo and direct links do not count. If the allowance runs out, those videos stop playing until it resets on the 1st of the month.

Comment on a moment#

  1. Open the video and play it.
  2. Pause where you want to comment and press Comment at m:ss (just Comment on a small screen).
  3. Write your comment and post it. It is pinned to that moment.

Comment on a stretch of the video#

While writing a comment, switch from Moment to Range. The range starts as the next five seconds; drag its start and end handles on the timeline to cover the part you mean.

Point at something in the picture#

On uploaded, drive and direct-link videos, press Pin a spot, then click on the picture to pin the comment to that place at that moment. The pin shows on the picture around its moment. Pin a spot is not available for YouTube or Vimeo videos, or on small screens.

Timeline markers#

Every comment appears as a round marker above the timeline, with the initial of the person who left it in their colour. Ranges are drawn along the bar, and resolved comments are faded. Hover over a marker to read it; click it, or a comment in the list, and the video pauses and jumps to that moment.

In the comments list, each video comment shows its time ("1:24", or "1:24–1:30" for a range), so your team knows exactly where to look.
