Drop a pin, highlight some words or draw a box on the page, then add images, @mention people, reply and change the status.

Open the review link and press Add comment on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, or press C. Then click the page to drop a pin, drag across words to highlight them, or drag anywhere else to draw a box. Type what needs changing and press Add.

Pins, highlights and boxes#

  1. Press Add comment (or C). The button changes to Click the page (Tap the page on a touch screen). On a phone the button just reads Comment.
  2. Click anywhere to drop a pin there.
  3. Or drag across words to highlight that text. The pointer turns into a text cursor when it is over text, and the highlight snaps to whole words.
  4. Or drag anywhere else to draw a box around an area. To draw a box over text, hold Shift as you start dragging.
  5. Type your comment in the box that opens, under What needs changing?, and press Add (or Cmd-Enter, Ctrl-Enter on Windows). Plain Enter starts a new line.

If you select some text before pressing Add comment (or C), the comment goes on that text straight away. A very small box, under 12 by 12 pixels, is saved as a pin instead.

To cancel, press Add comment again, the X on the comment box, or Esc.

On a phone or tablet#

Tap the page to drop a pin. Dragging scrolls the page as usual, so to draw a box or highlight words, hold your finger still for a moment (about half a second) and then drag.

Status and type#

The top of the new comment box has a status pill. It starts as In Progress, and you can change it to Feedback or Resolved before you post. See Comment statuses.

If your project shows a Type row, you can also say what kind of change it is. See Comment types.

Images#

Press the image button under the comment box (Attach an image) to add one or more pictures, paste an image in, or press the capture button to grab the part of the page you can see and draw on it. Each image can be up to 5MB, in PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF format. See Screenshots.

Mention someone#

Type @ or press the @ button (Mention someone) and pick a name from the list. The list shows up to 6 matching names, and your team carries a "team" tag. Use the arrow keys to move, Enter or Tab to pick, and Esc to close the list.

The people you mention get an email and an entry on their notification bell, as long as they have a Drobber account on the project: your team, or clients you have given access. People with an invite still pending, and guests without an account, are not notified.

Reply, edit or delete#

  • Reply: open a comment and type in the Reply... box. Replies can have images, captures and @mentions too.
  • Edit: press the pencil (Edit) on your own comment or reply, change it and press Save. Enter saves and Shift-Enter starts a new line. It then shows "(edited)". Only people signed in to an account can edit.
  • Delete a comment: press the bin (Delete comment). Drobber asks you to confirm, because the comment and all its replies are deleted for good. The comment's author (signed in) and your team can delete it.
  • Delete a reply: its author or your team can delete it.
  • Move a pin: the comment's author (signed in) or your team can drag a pin to a new spot. Boxes and highlights stay where they were drawn.

Comments can be up to 5,000 characters. A highlight keeps up to 1,000 characters of the words you highlighted.

Commenting on a PDF, image or video works the same way. Videos add a timestamp. See Video feedback and timestamps.

Not signed in? Depending on the project, you will be asked to sign in or just to give your name. See Guest comments.
