Screenshots

Add a screenshot to a comment with the capture button, by pasting one in or by attaching a file. Drobber never takes one without being asked.

Drobber never takes a screenshot of the page when someone posts a comment. A comment only has the images the reviewer chose to add. There are four ways to add one.

Capture the page#

  1. Start a comment or open the reply box.
  2. Press the capture button under the box (Capture this view and draw on it). Drobber captures the part of the page you can see, as it is scrolled.
  3. Draw on it if you like: boxes, arrows, text, numbered steps, or blur to hide anything private.
  4. Press Attach. The image is added to your comment.

Draw on the toolbar (or D) does the same in one go: it captures the view, lets you draw, then pins a new comment where you made your first mark, with the drawing attached. See Drawing, stickers and other tools.

Paste an image#

Copy an image, for example a screenshot taken with your computer's own tool, then click in the comment or reply box and press Cmd-V (Ctrl-V on Windows).

Attach an image file#

Press the image button under the comment or reply box (Attach an image) and choose one or more files.

Sizes and formats#

  • PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 5MB each. Large captures are made smaller to fit.
  • Images upload as soon as you add them. The Add button waits until they have finished.
  • An image that is uploaded but never posted with a comment is deleted after 24 hours.
  • Click an image on a comment to see it full size.

When a capture does not look right#

A capture is drawn again from the page rather than taken as a true pixel-for-pixel screenshot. Some effects, such as blurred glass backgrounds, and images served from another site that does not allow it, may not come out. If that happens, take a screenshot with your computer's own tool and paste it in.

On a video review, the comment box has no capture button. Frames from YouTube and Vimeo videos cannot be captured at all, because those sites do not allow it.

Other pictures Drobber keeps#

Two other kinds of picture are never attached to comments. Your team's own browser keeps the project's card picture in Drobber up to date. And when a resolved comment's part of the page changes, Drobber keeps a before and after. See When a fixed comment changes again.

Images count towards your workspace's storage. If it is full, uploads stop with "This workspace is out of storage." See Storage and cloud drives.
