Start Claude in your website’s folder

Claude works on the copy of your site on your computer. Tell Drobber the folder once and Fix with Claude opens Claude there every time.

Claude works on the copy of the website on your computer, so it needs to start in that folder. Tell Drobber where the folder is once, and Fix with Claude opens Claude there every time.

The first time you press Fix with Claude on a project, a short setup opens (see Fix a comment with Claude). When you choose On this computer as where your website is, the setup asks you to show Claude your site’s folder:

  1. In Terminal, go to the folder: type cd and a space, drag the folder onto the window, and press Enter.
  2. Copy the command the setup shows and run it. It starts Claude and runs /drobber:link for this project, so Claude tells Drobber which folder it is in.
  3. Wait for the setup to say Found it, with the folder’s path, then carry on.

Prefer to paste the path? Press type it in, paste the folder’s full path and press Use this folder. On a Mac, right-click the folder in Finder, hold Option and choose Copy “…” as Pathname. Drobber needs the full path, so a path that starts with ~ won’t do.

The folder is saved for you and that project. Everyone else on your team links their own.

Start Claude yourself#

  1. In Terminal, go to the folder as above. If you type the path and it has spaces in it, put it in quotes, for example cd ~/"Local Sites/acme".
  2. Type claude and press Enter. The first time, answer any questions Claude Code asks.
  3. Check the connection by typing: List my Drobber projects.

From there, type /drobber:fix 12 to fix comment #12, or /drobber:fix-all for everything In Progress, or ask in your own words. See What Claude can see and do.

Sites that don’t live in a folder#

  • WordPress keeps your pages in its database, so Claude changes them through the Drobber WordPress plugin instead. See Fix with Claude on WordPress.
  • If the code is on GitHub, Claude can work there with nothing on your computer. See Fix with Claude on GitHub.
  • For a Shopify theme, pull it into a folder with shopify theme pull first and link that folder. Claude changes the files there and tells you to run shopify theme push when it is done, so you choose when the change goes live.
  • For Webflow, add Webflow’s own Claude connector and sign in to Webflow. Claude then changes the site through that connection.
